Mechanical Commando 2 Guide
2/27/10 by Godliest
Main Mission
Kills - Take Next Gen Radar to ensure that you've killed everything before going to the final boss.
Side Objective - Next Gen Radar is the best way to see where to go.
Time - Take fastest legs, slow-firing high-damage-dealing weapons. Just run to the boss/mini-boss unleash all you got and then run on. Take as heavy armor as possible, you will take quite some damage from running straight through enemy fire.
Destroy Sidemissions
What matters - Time and amount of bullets that hit you. You can never get hit to get a gold.
Recommended equipment - Time Control Device to be able to dodge all bullets. For the earlier missions you can take pretty much anything. For the later missions take Missile Launcher and Cooldown Device. Fastest legs are a must. Armor doesn't matter.
Secure Sidemissions
See Destroy.
Defence Sidemissions
What matters - Amount of kills.
Recommended equipment - You want to pack as much damage as possible. Speed is irrelevant, just take to the heaviest armor and you don't need to worry about dodging. For the earlier missions (1, 2) take something with fast rate of fire and then a should weapon to deal with heavier enemies. For the later ones take something that deals a lot of damage. Cooldown Device recommended.
Cut Power Sidemissions
What matters - Amount of kills.
Recommended equipment - Next Gen Radar is absolutely lovely for this. Take it and check often (by pausing (P)) that all enemies are dead, always check this before finishing the last objective. Otherwise take whatever you prefer.
Intel Sidemissions
See Cut Power Sidemissions
Rescue Sidemissions
See Cut Power Sidemissions
Survival
What matters - Surviving as many waves as possible. 30 waves needed to get a gold.
Recommended equipment - Repair Droid Munition is what will make this a breeze. It allows you to stay at almost full health until only the later waves. Take the heaviest armor (a must!), Homing Rocket Launcher and Homing Cluster so you can focus only on dodging.
Boss Run
What matters - Amount of missiles killed that the final boss spawns. He spawns these when you get close (I believe), so just run up pretty close and shoot straight at him to kill those missiles.
Recommended equipment - Take heaviest armor. Take a gun that doesn't deal too much damage, you don't want to kill the final boss to quickly. Shoulder slot isn't that important, take whatever you feel like.
Medals:
Killing Spree - Super easy.
My First Day - Can be done while asleep... almost.
Boss Run - Currently broken.
Mission Accomplished - Currently broken.
Golden Commando - All Sidemissions and Missions needed. See above for tips.

Blasting Agent - 170 points, 6 medals.
SpiffyMasta's Video Walkthrough 100% Hard Mode
Enemies
Soldier - You'll encounter them on the first level, they shoot one single "bullet" forward. Easy.
Pyro - They shoot fire at you with their flamethrower, longer range than normal soldier (how?). Just shoot at your maximum range and jump over their flames.
Stop Robots - They shoot 6 bullets in a nice spread. Rather shortish range though. If you got too short range to shoot past their range just run in after they've shot and shoot while running back. Repeat.
Turrets - Stationary, they will pop up, shoot a bullet and then hide again. Just jump over the first bullet and then shoot them directly when they come up. Don't jump on them or they won't come up.
Ninjas - They seem to be dashing around and jump pretty high. Use a fully charged gun to one-shot them or just make sure they stand by a wall and jump on their heads.
Patrol Robot 1 - Goes up and down and shoots two bullets with some spread at you.
Patrol Robot 2 - Goes from one side to the other and shoots one bullet downwards.
Picked up updrages
Blue with a R - Speed+Range
Red with a S - Spread
Green witha E - Damage
Red Plus - Increases maximum health by 1 heart.
Awarded Upgrades
Easy:
Level 1 - Ionic Dash. Double tap the left or right key to move quickly to the right/left. Can be used while in air.
Level 2 - Pulse Bazooka. If you don't shoot for a while you will charge it up allow you to shoot one extra strong shot. Really good.
Level 3 - Space Captain. Believe it makes you take less damage, but unsure.
Hard:
Level 1 - Double Jump. Good for skipping harder platform parts.
Level 2 - Grenade. You'll shoot a grenade every now and then. The grenade will be shoot upwards and will bounce a bit before exploding, will mostly be useless but can be used to shoot above walls now and then.
Level 3 - Ninja. You shoot shurikens. You also just beat the game, so whatever.
General tips
- Go through every corner of the map and be sure you can't find anything more before moving on to the next room.
- Jumping on enemies heads mean they can't hit you with their attacks. Especially good versus ninjas.
- Pulse Bazooka owns. Use it at full charge to one-shot enemies.
- You'll get longer range than the enemies - take advantage of it.
- The enemies and bosses seem to have more health in Hard, but it's not a very significant change.
First boss
Pattern - It will shoot bullets that go with a arc, slightly longer every time until a certain length away from it, it will then dig itself underground and go to the other side of the map. It will repeat this pattern over and over.
Tactic - Just run into range and shoot it and avoid the bullets (you should really only have to dodge one bullet), when it digs itself underground just use your Ionic Dash while in air to get past it's entire length. Repeat.
Second Boss
Pattern - It will circle around a lot while shooting from it's mouth. The boss then spawns some ghosts and starting going from left to right, and then repeats.
Tactic - Use the beams provided and keep to the middle while shooting at the head at it goes past you. When it spawns ghosts drop down into one corner to deal with them and pick up the hearts they drop to get full health. Avoid to land on the boss at you take damage from jumping on it and you may die due to the fact that you're stuck bouncing on it for it's entire length (which is quite long).
Third Boss
Phase 1
Pattern - Enemies (normal Soldiers) spawn from the left and right doors and go the middle. After a few of these have spawned the boss will start flying around allowing you to shoot at him with your spread bullets.
Tactic - Kill the enemies that spawn and pick up their hearts to get some health. When the boss starts flying around focus on him, but be sure to deal with the enemies. If you got Double Jump use it to hit the boss before he's started flying.
Phase 2
Pattern - Fireballs spawn on the left side of the map and the bass walks forward pointing his one hand at you and after some time shoots. The hand will lock at your position and shoot there.
TacticRun backwards and keep shooting to deal with the fireballs that you can reach. Keep to the very left or right part so you can, when his hand as locked on to you, just run to the other side and thus avoid taking damage. Platforms will spawn, but these will be destructible ones so your shots and the fireballs that spawn will destroy them. Jump up on these until you can shoot at the head (who could've guessed?).
On easy difficulty you won't have double jump yet meaning you have to be lucky with the fireball spawns to get to the head, luckily it should only be necessary to get to his head and shoot at it twice. On hard difficulty on the other hand you got double jump meaning you can much easier reach his head and stay there, making the boss easier on this difficulty.
--------------------------------------

Tower of Greed - 370 points, 12 medals.
Enemies
Spike Norm - Walks until they hit a wall, then they walk back again. The most common enemy and also the least dangerous one.
Pogo Punk - Jumps up and down and changes direction when colliding with a wall. Due to their jumping they can be fairly dangerous, but more often than not they just jump off and die.
Snail Shark - Can climb ladders and will follow after you. To get rid of it you need to get somewhere that can only be reached by jumping. Try to get rid of it as fast as possible.
Gems
- Green gem - $50
- Blue gem - $500
- White gem - $5000
Bricks/Stuff
- Blink Brick - Disappears/appears at regular intervals. Don't panicjump, be sure that it won't disappear directly once you jump on it.
- Weak Brick - Will disappear after a fairly short time after you or an enemy has walked on it. Be sure you know where to go after jumping on these.
- Treadmill - Moves in one direction and makes you walk faster if you move that direction and slower if you move in the opposite one.
- Spikes - Knocks you back a bit (same as what happens when you hit an enemy).
- Ladder - You climb them...
- Spring - Bounces you up.
Items
- Shield - Allows you to walk on spikes and enemies are unable to hit you.
- Gem Magnet - All gems that are on, and a bit outside, screen are pulled towards you.
- Hourglass - The screen stops scrolling upward, Blink Bricks stop disappearing/appearing, enemies stop moving and Weak Bricks don't break.
- Skull - Kills all enemies on, and a bit outside, screen.
For first-timers
- You must exit the tower to save your trophies, medals amount of floors climbed and gems collected.
- Enemies and spikes don't kill you, but they knock you back a bit.
- You die once you get below the screen.
- Items are found in bags.
- An exit appears every 5th floor.
Tips
- Memorize the floors. Knowing how every exit floor looks helps when you want to get out and on some floors remembering to jump right instead of left may save your life.
- White gems are worth 10 blue gems, using a Gem Magnet or Hourglass to only get one white gem is always worth it.
- On later floors (60+) save your items to just keep alive, alternatively get some points and a new item.
- Patience. You won't get Warrior of Greed on your first playthrough. Memorize the early easy floors so you can reach the later ones and memorize these too.
- If you got invincibility, use it at the 3rd floor in and it should last long enough to get you to the 5th floor where you can exit/bank gems.
- When you bank gems you will lose the item you currently have, so use it before entering.
In-Game Trophies
Since all medals are just In-Game Trophies I'll go through the in-game trophies instead.
WEALTHY - WARRIOR OF GREED
- MEDALS: WEALTHY (5), FILTHY RICH (10), MISER (25), MONEY MCGEE (50).
- Easiest: Get $10,000 on one playthrough.
- Hardest: Get $250,000 on one playthrough.
- All up to Money McGee (get $100,000) are fairly easy and can be done without ever getting to any of the harder floors.
- You should get $250,000 at about floor 70 and it's a fairly hard trophy to get, probably the hardest one. With some luck and memorizing of floors this shouldn't be too hard.
- When going for these trophies play it risky at the 20 first floors or so, it only takes a few minutes to get back to to floor 20 and you want to climb as short as possible.
BANKER - BERNIE MADOFF
- Easiest: Get $500,000 across all games.
- Hardest: Get $2,500,000 across all games
- You will probably get Investor (get $1,000,000 across all games) while trying to get other trophies.
- Should you not have this trophy by the time you got all the others, just farm it (zzz): try to collect most gems up to about floor 20. This should get you around $50,00 and it's a easy and safe way.
ADVENTURER - LORD OF THE TOWER
- MEDALS: ADVENTURER (10), EXPEDITIONIST (25), TOWER PROWLER (50).
- Easiest: Reach floor 10.
- Hardest: Reach floor 100.
- All trophies up to Lord of the Tower you should get while trying to get other trophies.
- For Lord of the Tower play Survival and climb up to the first exit, where the first exit is. Ensure that you are at a floor that ends with 5 or 0, if not then wait until it does, as you may come close to dying ensure that you are positioned correctly on top of the exit. Now click up as if to exit, choose "Bank Gems". You will stand at one of the different beginning floors. You can also see that it has added 2 to the amount of floors climbed. This means that you only got 3 floors to climb, and one of them is easy beginning floor. This means you only have to climb 60 floors (and 20 of them being easy, beginning ones) of the actual steps you would've had to climb otherwise.
- Play it safe. You are not trying to get gems so just use your items to stay alive and don't risk your life for some gems.
TOWER CLIMBER - ONE WITH THE TOWER
- Easiest: Traverse 250 floors across all games.
- Hardest: Traverse 1000 floors across all games.
- You should get most of these from just trying to get other gems.
- If you have this one left after having got all other trophies, just farm it. Play on survival and bank your gems to quickly to get floor 20-30 and then exit.
ENEMY DEATH! - TERMINATOR
- Easiest: Kill an enemy.
- Hardest: Kill 10 enemies in a single game.
- This can only be done using the Skull item. You should get all of these trophies going for other trophies.
- 10 enemies may seem like a lot, but considering that you will come across as many as 4 on one screen during later floors this trophy isn't very hard to get.
SMALL PILE - LARGE PILE
- Easiest: Kill 25 enemies across all games.
- Hardest: Kill 100 enemies across all games.
- Similar to the Bernie Madoff and One With the Tower trophies these trophies you will probably get while trying to get other trophies.
- Otherwise just farm it. Try to get a Death Skull then kill 1 or preferably 2 enemies and then exit the tower as soon as possible. Repeat until you got it.
HOLD IT! - GET OVER HERE!
- One trophy for using each item.
VARIETY KING
- MEDAL: VARIETY KING (10).
- Use one of each item during a single game.
- You will get this trophy while trying to get other trophies.
UTILIZER
- Use 10 items during a single game.
- You will get this trophy while trying to get other trophies.
ITEM USER - ITEM LOVER
- Easiest: Use 25 items across all games.
- Hardest: Use 100 items across all games.
- You will get these while trying to get other trophies.
- As with all other "... across all games" trophies, if you only got it left then just farm it.
GREEDY - GREEDY COLLECTOR
- Easiest: Collect 100 gems in a single game.
- Hardest: Collect 250 gems in a single game.
- Both are extremely easy and you will get them while trying to get other trophies.
- While trying to get the Warrior of Greed trophy I know I got significantly more than 800 gems.
GEM COLLECTOR - GEM ENTHUSIAST
- Easiest: Collect 500 gems across all games.
- Hardest: Collect 5000 gems across all games.
- You will get these trophies while trying to get other trophies, otherwise just farm them.
GREEN COLLECTOR - GREEN ENTHUSIAST
- Easiest: Collect 100 green gems across all games.
- Hardest: Collect 1000 green gems across all games.
- You will get these while trying to get other trophies, otherwise just farm them.
BLUE COLLECTOR - BLUE ENTHUSIAST
- Easiest: Collect 25 blue gems across all games.
- Hardest: Collect 250 blue gems across all games.
- You will get these while trying to get other trophies, otherwise just farm them.
WHITE COLLECTOR - WHITE ENTHUSIAST
- Easiest: Collect a white gem.
- Hardest: Collect 25 white gems.
- You will get these while trying to get other trophies, otherwise just farm them.
TEM SWAP
- Have an item and take a bag to swap item.
COMPLETIST
- Collect 50 gems before any leave the screen.
- You just have to be lucky with what floors you get.
- If you do not have it then always begin with trying to, if possible, get this trophy.
- It's not hard if you get a good beginning floor and a gem magnet.
2 BIRDS, 1 STONE
- Kill 2 enemies with one Skull.
- Really easy.
PARKED CAR
- Get hit by an enemy while time is frozen.
- This will occasionally happen unintentionally, but it's always really easy to just deliberately jump into an enemy while time is frozen.
RAZOR'S EDGE
- Walk on spikes while invincible (i.e. after you've used Shield)
- Spikes will not appear on the earlier floor.
- Really easy.
NICE TRY
- Use a Gem Magnet and pull in absolutely nothing.
- You have to get this one deliberately, as it's rare that you'll fail so epicly.
- I actually had some problems with this one as you pull in gems slightly outside the screen meaning you have to be sure that there's none above. It's still an easy trophy.
FIRING BLANKS
- Use a Skull on absolutely nothing.
- Really easy.
CLOSE CALL
- Get very close to dying from being to low on the screen, and then survive it.
- You will get this while trying to get other trophies.
- Should you want to get this the easiest way to do it is to stand on a ladder (you climb faster than the screen scrolls) and then just wait until you can't see yourself, then climb up.
IMPATIENT MUCH?
- Force the screen to rise for a while.
- You will get this while trying to get other trophies.
- Easy to get by climbing a long ladder or stopping time and climbing upwards.
DODGE MASTER
- Encounter 10 enemies without being hit in a single game.
- As the enemies don't have to be in a row or such it's really easy.
- Even if you're amazingly clumsy (like me) you'll get this while trying to get other trophies.
CLUMSY
- Get hit by 10 enemies in a single game.
- You will get this trophy while trying to get other trophies.
- If you happen to be a god of dodging with amazing luck it's not a hard trophy to deliberately get.
HEAVY STEPPING
- Break 50 breakable blocks across all games.
- You will get this trophy while trying to get other trophies.
10TH TROPHY - THE FINAL TROPHY
- MEDALS: PEASANT OF GREED (10), SERVANT OF GREED (25), APPRENTICE OF GREED (50), MASTER OF GREED (100).
- Easiest: Collect 9 trophies.
- Hardest: Collect all (other) trophies.
- Do I need to say that you will get these when trying to get other trophies?
- An easy method for the people without any honor is to (1) clear your data, (2)right click and press back, (3)repeat (1) and (2) a few times, (4) play the game. Apparently the trophies are assigned to you multiple times when using this method.
Thanks to kidray76. Thanks to chris-marks and EdyKel for the honorless method to get 64 trophies.
